In this very extensive world atlas, Blaeu published for the major part maps that he acquired from a wide spread network of important European map makers. One of them was the Swedish surveyor and mathematician Anders Bureus (1571-1661), who was in charge of the compilation of a large survey map of Sweden. The map is dedicated to the Swedish nobelman Gabriel Bengtsson Oxenstierna (deceased 1656).
